We collect the following categories of information when you use OurCrib:

Account Information

  • Profile avatar

Household Data

  • Household name, members, and roles (admin / member)
  • Announcements and vibe check responses
  • Nudges, reactions, and comments

Financial Data

  • Bills, expenses, and payment records (amounts, descriptions, splits)
  • Recurring expense schedules
  • Receipt images and text extracted via OCR / AI-powered parsing

Task & Calendar Data

  • Chores, assignments, and completion status
  • Shopping list items
  • Calendar events

Device & Technical Data

  • Push notification device tokens
  • Basic usage analytics

3. How We Use Your Data

  • Providing the service: managing household expenses, chores, shopping lists, calendar events, and communication features.
  • Push notifications: sending reminders, nudges, and household updates.
  • Receipt parsing: extracting text from receipt images to auto-fill expense details.
  • Household coordination: sharing relevant data with members of the same household.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate OurCrib:

  • Supabase — backend infrastructure, authentication, database, real-time subscriptions, and file storage.
  • Anthropic (Claude API) — AI-powered receipt parsing and text extraction.
  • OpenAI API — receipt parsing fallback.
  • Apple Push Notification service (APNs) — delivering push notifications to your device.

These services process data solely to provide functionality within OurCrib and are bound by their own privacy policies.

5. Data Sharing

Your data is shared only with members of the household(s) you belong to, as required for the app to function. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

6. Permissions

  • Camera & Photo Library: used for scanning receipts and uploading profile avatars. Access is requested only when needed and can be revoked in your device settings.
  • Push Notifications: used for reminders, nudges, and household updates. You can disable these at any time in your device settings.

7. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your data, including:

  • Row Level Security (RLS) on all database tables, ensuring users can only access data for households they belong to.
  • All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS.
  • Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text.

8. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you wish to delete your account and all associated data, you can do so from the app's settings. Upon deletion, your personal data will be permanently removed from our systems. Some anonymised, aggregated data may be retained for analytical purposes.

9. Children's Privacy

OurCrib is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

10. International Users

OurCrib is operated from Australia. If you access the app from outside Australia, please be aware that your data may be transferred to and processed in Australia and other countries where our service providers operate. By using OurCrib, you consent to such transfers.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of OurCrib after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
